Solar Powered Plastic Pyrolysis Plant
Solar Powered Plastic Pyrolysis Plant
Our Mission is to upcycle the entire plastic waste generated using Renewable energy in a non-polluting, Eco-Sustainable way.
Plastics have outgrown most man-made materials and have long been under environmental scrutiny. However, robust global information, particularly about their end-of-life fate, is lacking. By identifying and synthesizing dispersed data on production, use, and end-of-life management of polymer resins, synthetic fibers, and additives, we present the first global analysis of all mass-produced plastics ever manufactured. We estimate that 8300 million metric tons (Mt) as of virgin plastics have been produced to date. As of 2015, approximately 6300 Mt of plastic waste had been generated, around 9% of which had been recycled, 12% was incinerated, and 79% was accumulated in landfills or the natural environment. If current production and waste management trends continue, roughly 12,000 Mt of plastic waste will be in landfills or in the natural environment by 2050.
Solar Plastic Pyrolysis
A system where in the Plastic of various types, which is non Biodegradable or slow degradable, that can be assimilated through a process of pyrolysis to be converted in the form which is controllable, storable and reusable, but since it consumes a formidable amount of fossil fuel or electricity or both. The challenge was to devise a process which does not consume Fossil fuel or electricity and is more efficient in terms of input energy to output energy.
Use of Solar energy to initiate and propagate the reaction in the reactor for processing of the plastic garbage and capture & utilise the exo-energy which is usually wasted, using the Concave Reflector and heat capturing mechanism. This exo-energy can further be used to generate electricity in environment friendly methods & are sustainable & reusable and has a very long shelf life.
Advantages of Solar Energy
► India receives 4-7 Kwh/m2 of Solar Irradiance per day as per Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. (Ref : https://mnre.gov.in/solar/current-status/)
► Which equates to 14.4 – 25.2 Mjh/m2
► Present PV solar panels produce 150 – 200 w/h at maximum 11% efficiency.
► India has 3615.42 hours of Sunlight against total of 8760 hours in a year which is approximately 9.9 hours of sunlight per day. (Ref: https://en.climate-data.org/asia/india/punjab/ludhiana-889/).
► Indian sub-continent has a potential to capture approximately 39.6 – 69.3 Kw/day/ m2
We aim to maximise utilization of this Solar irradiance by increasing the efficiency of the solar engine by building multiple systems one over the other and all using Sun’s Irradiance
Solar Plastic Pyrolysis
Our idea is of Solar Plastic Pyrolysis system (SPPP) to maximise the efficiency of the pyrolysis reactor as well as conservation of the environment and production of energy as a by product apart from producing Paraffin as waste product with high calorific value while simultaneously reducing the burden of polluting landfills, freeing up the landmass and SAVING ENVIORMENT. It is a system where in the waste Plastic of various types, which is non Biodegradable or slow degradable, that can be assimilated through a process of pyrolysis to be converted in the form which is controllable, storable and reusable, using Solar energy, to initiate and propagate the reaction in the reactor for processing of the plastic garbage and capture & utilise the exo-energy which is usually wasted, using the Solar concentrator and heat capturing mechanism. This exo-energy can further be used to generate electricity in environment friendly methods & are sustainable & reusable and has a very long shelf life.
Projection
India as a country produces 34,69,782 TPA of the plastic waste while this figure is 7,35,90,00,000 TPA for the whole world, which is getting accumulated in the Tropical Earth at SE Asia, Africa and The Great Pacific Garbage Patch and other such Ocean Patches, year on year and only 30% of it is recycled (this is official figure but reality is it gets Greenwashed) rest 70% is piling up. We wish to increase the assimilation of this Plastic Garbage to the maximum though to consume all the plastic in the world is a daunting task but everybody has to do their bits.
Calculated estimated market for this product is $ 39 Trillions for the whole world and $ 18.5 Billion for India & similarly the demand for other SE Asia Countries and Africa can be worked out and if only a percentage of the same can be tapped upon designing and producing the SPPPP as per the availability of manufacturing and distribution facility.
